Futtermedicus Optiballast consist of purely plant based cellulose. Cellulose counts to dietary fibre. Even though they do not have dietary nutrition for dogs and cats, they are important when it comes to a regulated intestinal activity. Fibres such as cellulose stimulate bowel movements when the faeces is too hard and help with low fibre feeding by replacing for example the vegetable component. With softer stool, on the other hand, the faeces becomes firmer due to the high water binding of cellulose.
In case your four legged friend refuses to eat green food or only eats meat and carbohydrates, you can give cellulose to supplement the missing dietary fibre in your dog’s or cat’s nutrition.

The amount should be slowly increased over 5-7 days, so that the intestine and the intestinal bacteria can get the most out of the fibres. If you give the essential final quantity from its beginning, the consistency of the faeces can become worse by the high content of fibre. The fibres should swell with water in advance and be mixed well under the food.
The amount can be increased until maximum 1 g per kg body weight per day. When the feaces soften, the individual limit is reached. The amount should then be reduced again by half a teaspoon.
